Ratan Tata’s dream project -TATA 1 lakh car jeh

Tata Motors is working hard on fulfilling the dreams of millions of two wheeler owners in the country who want to buy a car.
The company said that it was about to deliver on its promise to produce a car which will cost Rs 1 lakh. The Ratan Tata’s dream project has seen several difficulties but they say that they are on track to deliver the car sometime next year.
But the much touted TATA Rs one lakh car would be unveiled at the Auto Expo in New Delhi on January 10.Tata say the current most favoured name within the company is the Tata Jeh.

Tata 1 Lakh car will resemble a production version of Tata’s 1998 Zing concept car. It will be a 5-door hatchback but there will be very little space behind the rear seats for a boot. In fact, even rear bench space is expected to be at a premium, making the car a 2+2 of sorts.

Definitely a pure A to B city car with the distance between A to B limited to short journeys where you do not need to carry any luggage. Not a balik kampung car, definitely. The car will be built on a rear engine rear wheel drive platform and will be powered by a two-cylinder engine.

Two of these two-cylinder engines will be offered - a 660cc 2-cylinder petrol and the world’s first low-cost 700cc two-cylinder common rail diesel engine with a special low cost common rail system developed by Bosch. Bosch will also apply a fuel injection system called “value motronic” for the 660cc petrol unit which will be power by 4 gears
Ratan Tata’s dream project -TATA 1 lakh car jeh has given Average in internal company tests, the petrol version managed to achieve a fuel efficiency of 26 km travelled per liter of fuel consumed. The diesel version is expected to be even better.

Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata has said it should not be impossible for the world's cheapest (Rs one lakh) car to co-exist with prestigious brands like Jaguar and Land Rover despite an image disparity.

HONDA CIVIC HYBRID ON INDIAN ROADS IN 2008

To drive an Hybrid car Indians will not have to wait for longtime because Honda Siel Car is going to launch Civic hybrid in India in 2008 summer.
While attempts to move over to alternative and renewable fuel have been made in India with liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas and bio-diesel powered cars, the Civic hybrid will be the first mass produced hybrid car to hit Indian roads. The idea of Honda is to bring an environment friendly technology to India.

While the chassis and the body of the car are largely unchanged, the hybrid version has a combustion engine integrated with an electric powered motor, which recharges when the car is running. The car automatically shifts between the two sources of power, depending on the requirement and also uses them simultaneously.Civic has a specific breaking system, which recharges the battery every time you use the breaks.

As a result, the car burns less fuel and provides a mileage which is double of the petrol version at around 20 kmpl. Compared with the petrol version which turns out a 130bhp, the hybrid model will give around 110bhp.
price for Honda Civic hybrid will be nearly Rs 20 lakh.

NEW MARUTI 800

Maruti 800 which use to 1st car of people is going to change it design ,style and looks or we can say it is going to have makeover.acc to rumour it is going to have looks similar to the Japanese Suzuki Cervo which is the latest small car recently launched in Japan.
THe new 800 is going to be the sporty and agressive exteriors and the classy bcoz the Cervo is a compact five door mini, that looks to put the other kids on the block into the shade.
This sleeky cute car offers 54bhp 660cc engine that boasts to offer peppy performance with great fuel economy.
Suzuki believes that they can price the car in the same amount given by Tata, they can do this by deleting some of the stuff available in the car, or by using a cheaper material to make it cost less, but, we doubt that Suzuki will use such cheap material so long as price is considered. There is going to be a lot of competition between these two in the below 800cc category.

outlooks
From the outside the Cervo looks like the Honda Fit. The lines and cuts of the car are neat and classy and the clean blacky covering at the end of the windows are cleverly made so as not to see too many holes. The headlights seem too agressive and getting ready to vrroomm and seems confident, well we can hope it really does. The Small mini SUV looks at the back, with an arching roofline, wedgy stance, slanted headlights and stubby bonnet makes out a new shape of itself and bound to be a great car if its priced is good and if its at 1L, it will be crazy selling. The rear is equally attractive as the front end of the Cervo is. The large lamps add appeal and character to the rear of this Suzuki.

Interiors
The interiors of this car somewhat looks like that of the much popular Swift. The rectangular air vents in the center and the circle open closed ones on the sides dont look even and looks a bit uneven. the colors of the controls lights up the dash. The boot is very small, but for daily shopping and office stuffs its just OK.

Seats at the back can seat only two and the third one can cramp up the place. A lot of storage areas are available to keep stuff in the front and find little at the back. Power Windows are airbags are available in the international markets but we doubt that it will come to India at that cost atleast airbags as an option would be better to make the car safe. In the outside markets this car is equipped with front semi-bucket seats,
4-speed auto gearbox a K6A DOHC engine with VVT, bluetooth capability.

Rumours suggest the new car to be launched sometime next year. If the pics on the google search is true, thats an awesome revamp to an 800. and Cars like these will be a success in India if they are priced well with high profile, the sporty and agressive exteriors and the classy and swifty interiors are bound to make the young gens and the ladies to force their cash out, the Suzuki's bet of combining performance with FE, this car will be a hit in Indian roads.

But is it a hero or the Car from the Black Lagoon. This is Ford’s idea of the perfect family car.
The company has been able to avail of the differential excise duty applicable to small cars by reducing the length of Ford Fusion below 4 metres and keeping the engine capacity at less than 1.5 litres. Ford Fusion is the first car from Ford's portfolio to be classified as a small car.. A 5 speed manual transmission is made use of to transmit the power to the wheels.

The Fusion’s engine meets the Bharat Stage III emission norms.

Swift diesel

The Swift diesel has everything it takes — powerful and refined engine, high fuel efficiency and low NVH — to leave the competition standing.Introductory price for Swift Diesel is 4.68 lakh ex-showroom Delhi for the base version. The car is available for sale in two versions, LDi and VDi which are quite equivalent to LXi and VXi respectively in terms of features provided.

Maruti Swift Diesel has got a 1.3 liter (1248cc), multi-injection, DOHC DDiS engine which produces 76ps of power and 190Nm of torque. To me, as of now, engine seems good enough. I hope noise-level would be quite low and fuel efficiency would be good enough. Dimensions of Swift Diesel are exactly same as Swift Petrol, however, weight has gone up by approx 85 kgs. I couldn’t find any difference in features provided in similar Petrol and Diesel versions. The only apparent addition in features-list seems to be Immobilizer. Those who prefer safety and luxury, might be disappointed considering the fact that there is no Diesel version equivalent to ZXi. In nutshell, no airbags, alloy wheels, climate control or keyless entry for Swift Diesel!
The steering system is analogous to indica v2 and has a turning radius of about 4.7m. The product comes with P-EPS electronic power steering i.e. steering is assisted by electronic system hence demands lesser effort to negotiate a turn. The swift petrol version has some problems with its steering i.e. you have to pull it suddenly as it is loose in straight ahead position while taking a turn. Hope this will be fixed in this version (check it wile you test drive).
Front brakes are ventilated disc type and rear one is drum.

Generally petrol fonder are frustrated of diesel because of its higher maintenance cost, it is expensive relative to petrol version and because of its noise and poor resale value. Common rail direct injection (CRDi) claims to resolve some of the problems, swift diesel is using that technology. So the specifications are here and we will decrypt it and find what we can expect from it.Maruti had already experimented Zen and esteem diesel but it failed hence all its diesel future lies in swift and it hopes for the best.
Also there is a fear that it will eat swift petrol sales. We will wait to see whether swift will do another swift for Maruti. But it has already sold over 60000 units since its launch making Maruti an invincible player in compact car segment.

HYUNDAI HYBRID CAR

HYUNDAI plans to introduce an Elantra LPG (liquid petroleum gas) hybrid sedan in 2009 followed by a gasoline hybrid version by 2010, The report claims that the Elantra(AVANTEIN KOREA) LPG model will be the first South Korean hybrid car.

The Elantra LPG hybrid will combine an engine capable of running on LPG with an electric motor. Hyundai claims that the car will use only 30% of the fuel consumed by the existing model and will have a fuel efficiency of 19-20km/l. Moreover, LPG costs half the price of gasoline in the local market, the OEM said.

The report also claims that Hyundai will suspend production of the hybrid versions of the Verna and the Pride, test models of which are currently being used by the government.

Hyundai will begin commercial production of the Elantra hybrid in 2009, gradually increasing production to 20,000 units by 2010, 100,000 by 2012 and 300,000 by 2015.

Hyundai plans to release the LPG hybrid before a gasoline hybrid due to the LPG distribution infrastructure already being in place in South Korea and to benefit from government incentives.

The report claims that the subsidies will reduce the price of a Honda Civic Hybrid from Won 33.9m (US$36,534) to less than Won 30m (US$32,331).

Currently, the Lexus RX 400h and the Honda Civic Hybrid are the only hybrid cars available in South Korea.

2. Hyundai’s diesel Santro, which is expected to sport a 1.1-1.2 litre engine, will be the smallest diesel engine in the country.
3.Hyundai Motor will also launch as many as three versions of the Getz in the domestic market. To be named Getz Prime, the car will come in variants of 1.1 litre and 1.3 litre petrol engines and a 1.5 litre diesel engine.
GM-- too will bring in diesel sipping Aveo and Optra.RENAULT--French auto maker Renault is planning to make a low-cost car for emerging markets like India that will sport a price tag of around $3000 (Rs 1,23,000). The price will probably be higher when it hits the road because of local taxes.
It will give market to leader Maruti Udyog andTata Motor.
BMW--The new year BMW will begin its journey in India with the 3 series, assembled at its factory in Chennai. The 5 series will follow with the X5, X3, and the 7 series will be made available as a completely built unit.

Volvo-- will also take a bow in the passenger car segment with the S80 and XC90. Although Volkswagen has zeroed in on Maharashtra to set up its manufacturing base, it will start selling the Passat through the import route by mid-2007, long before the plant commences commercial production in 2009.

Mercedes Benz--Don't be surprised if DaimlerChrysler brings in its Mercedes Benz M-class to take on the growing popularity of the Audi Q7 and the Porsches.

Fiat--The year will see seven face-lifts and leading the way is the new-look Fiat Palio, to be rolled out from Fiat's Ranjangaon plant. ‘‘Fiat is gearing for a comeback into the Indian market,'' an analyst said.

Fiat will also bring in the new Petra during the year, but the big one is the launch of the Fiat Grande Punto, which could take place towards the end of the year.

Also in the line of face-lifts are the Maruti Baleno, the Mahindra Scorpio 2.2, the Honda Accord and the old-war horse Tata Sumo.

TATA--If things go according to plan, Tata Motors may unleash a spanking new Indica later in the year to enforce itsdomination in the diesel turf.

FORD DIESEL CAR'S

Ford Motor Co. will increase its presence in the diesel segment of India's fast-growing passenger vehicle market, but stay conservative in its new launches
High fuel prices and new launches are encouraging a shift to diesel, with analysts forecasting diesel's share of the Indian passenger vehicle market at 35 percent by 2010 from 30 percent.

Endeavour is an all-diesel range and more than 75 percent of sales of the Ford Fiesta are also in diesel, McCormack said. The Fiesta makes up nearly 70 percent of Ford's sales in India.

Ford will launch a diesel variant of its Fusion car in the third quarter of the year, and look at other options, he said.

"We are looking at new segments that are growing and that we can compete in with existing products or products that we can develop, like the Fiesta

Ford has sold about 7,000 units of the Endeavour since its launch in 2003 and has 38 percent of the about 15,000 units a year market for premium SUVs

PULSAR 220CC

The most awaited motorcycle of the nation has been finally launced . Finally there are some real bike launches after a brief lull in the Indian Motorcycle Segment. I am not talking about the odd "Sticker" and "Alloy" jobs here.

The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is powered by a 220cc engine and offers a cool 20bhp. With 1.95kg of torque,The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is expected to touch a top speed of 135kph.

Pulsar 220 develops more Max Power and Torque than the Karizma, that too at a comparitively higher RPM"Because the max power and max torque is achievd at a higher rpm, it means that the fun continues in the Pulsar 220 longer .

The most important feature of all is the fuel injection mechanism, which is responsible for the quick throttle and the linear power curve. The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is the first Indian motorcycle with an oil cooled engine. The tyres of the new DTS-Fi are tubeless and hence offers an exciting riding experience. The 55 watt projector low-beam headlamp offers a decent view of the road ahead. The fully digital dash is easy to read and difficult to mistake. The distinctive tail lamps of the Pulsar DTS-Fi adds a bit of dash. Overall, the body of the motorcycle still looks like the Pulsar family, but with sharper edges. The front faring is the difference - It is well integrated into the rest of the bodywork, and the side lights and indicators look excellent.

With a performance motorcycle, one should really not expect a high fuel efficiency/ mileage figures - still we expect the Pulsar DTS-Fi to get around 45 kilometers to a litre.

Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi--priced at Rs 84,000..Is available in three colours – blue, black and red.

Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi 220 has a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine, belting out 20 bhp of power with 1.95 kg of torque.
